Description
The Family Grassroots Challenge is an event held by USTA Eastern Section each June at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The event is a festival, held over Father's Day weekend, designed to bring together families in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area for a day of tennis and family fun. Each year the event has a theme.
In its 8th year, the Family Grassroots Challenge Parent Child Tournament is a highly anticipated tournament for Eastern players and continues to grow. Last years event was our most successful ever. Partnering with Junior Team Tennis, we had over 300 tennis players, parents, coaches; having the time of their lives, playing on the courts of the National Tennis Center where the pros play.
The tournament will be on June 19, 20 and 21, beginning at 9 AM. On June 20th we'll have the "It's Your Game! It's Your Eastern!" Charity Tennis Walk at 8:30 AM and the Tennis Clinic and Healthy Living Fair from 11 AM to 1 PM.
We need volunteers for the following tasks:
- Walk in the charity heart (5K) walk or volunteer to help manage the walk-Starting at the USTA BJK NTC proceeding throughout Flushing Meadows Park hitting key monuments throughout the park
- Volunteer at the Community Tennis Camp and Resource Fair and tennis clinic highlight quick start, Jr. Team Tennis and other USTA Eastern programs
- Play in the Parent/Child Tournament
