USTA Participates in Development and Implementation of a National Physical Activity Plan
The USTA as an organization is committed to growing the sport of tennis, and as such, encourages Americans to pursue a healthy lifestyle of physical activity. According to the National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity (NCPPA), senior authorities on public health ranging from the U.S. Surgeon General and the World Health Organization to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have called upon the U.S. to adopt a national physical activity plan.
NCPPA has been asked by the National Plan Coordinating Committee to assume the leadership for the National Physical Activity Plan's implementation and has been seeking many different stakeholders, including the USTA, to join in the process. The goal is to create a Plan that will help Americans become physically active and produce a marked and progressive increase in the percentage of Americans who meet physical activity guidelines throughout life.
The USTA is participating in the development of the Plan itself, and through its involvement with the NCPPA will be instrumental in its implementation. For more information on getting involved in implementing the National Physical Activity Plan, please contact Sheila Franklin at sfranklin@ncppa.org.
